India Lifted 415 Million Out Of Poverty In 15 Years: UN :-

According to the United Nations (UN), 415 million people left multidimensional poverty in India between 2005-06 and 2019-21, a “historical change” for the country. According to the latest Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) compiled jointly by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), the incidence of poverty in the country has decreased from 55.1% in 2005-06 to 16.4% in 2019-21. “India is an important case study for the Sustainable Development Goals,” it said.

Home Minister Amit Shah Launches First Hindi Version Of MBBS Course Books :-

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Hindi version of MBBS course books in Bhopal, a first in the country. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Vishwas Sarang, the state minister of medical education, were also present. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to start the MBBS course in the Hindi language in the country. Initially, three subjects have been selected to be studied in Hindi which includes Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.

Apoorva Srivastava Named As India’s Ambassador To Slovak Republic :-

Apoorva Srivastava, an Indian Foreign Service diplomat, has been appointed as India’s Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. She is a 2001 batch officer who currently serves as Consul-General at the Consulate of India in Toronto. Prior to this, she held various positions in the Ministry of External Affairs, including postings in Kathmandu and Paris, among other places. According to a Ministry of External Affairs release, India and Slovakia have friendly bilateral ties that are free of major tensions.

India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Increased By USD 204 Million :-

The Reserve Bank of India reported that India’s forex reserves increased by USD 204 million to USD 532.868 billion for the week ending October 7 due to an increase in the value of gold holdings. Overall reserves fell by USD 4.854 billion to USD 532.664 billion in the previous reporting week. The reserves have been declining for several weeks as the central bank implements various policies to defend the rupee against pressures caused primarily by global developments.

India May Draw $475 Billion In FDI In Next 5 Years: Report :-

Despite investor uncertainty caused by the pandemic and geopolitical conflict, India has the potential to attract $475 billion in FDI over the next five years due to a focus on reforms and economic growth, according to a report by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and EY. The report noted that FDI in India has seen a consistent rise in the last decade, with FY 2021-22 receiving FDI inflow of $84.8 billion despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical developments on investment sentiment.

Total Balance In PM Jan Dhan Accounts Crosses ?1.75-Lakh Crore Mark :-

The total balance in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) basic bank accounts has surpassed ?1.75 lakh crore. According to the most recent government data, the total balance stood at ?1,75,225 crore as of October 5, 2022, with a total beneficiary population of 47 crore. Women beneficiaries own a larger portion of the scheme, with 26.16 crore accounts, the majority of which (31.42 crore accounts) are in rural and semi-urban areas. According to government data, approximately 18% of total accounts are either dormant or inoperative (as on June 2022).

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Inaugurates India’s First Aluminum Freight Rake :-

Hindalco unveiled India’s first all-aluminum freight rail rakes, accelerating the country’s ambitious plan to modernise freight transportation while allowing Indian Railways to save significant amounts of carbon. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, inaugurated the “61 BOBRNALHSM1” rake at Bhubaneswar railway station in Odisha. “This is a dedicated effort for Make in India program as it has been fully designed and developed indigenously in collaboration with RDSO, Hindalco and Besco Wagon,” said a statement from the ministry of railways.

Justice DY Chandrachud Named As 50th Chief Justice Of India :-

Justice DY Chandrachud has been appointed as India’s 50th Chief Justice. On November 9, Justice Chandrachud will be sworn in as CJI by President Droupadi Murmu. He will succeed Justice UU Lalit, who is only in office for 74 days. Previously, CJI Lalit recommended Justice Chandrachud as his successor because he is the most senior Supreme Court justice. Justice Chandrachud has been a member of several Constitution benches and landmark Supreme Court decisions, including those concerning the Ayodhya land dispute, the right to privacy, and adultery.

Hollywood Actor Tom Cruise Became First Actor To Film In Outer Space :-

Tom Cruise, the actor known for his high-octane stunts in his films, is taking things to the next level and may soon become the first actor to shoot in space. The Top Gun star is reportedly working on a project with director Doug Liman that will require him to perform a spacewalk. Conversations about Cruise’s desire to film in space were halted during the COVID outbreak, but they have recently resurfaced. Universal Studios chairwoman Dame Donna Langley confirmed that sending Mr Cruise to space is one of the studio’s missions.

India Hosts 90th General Assembly Of INTERPOL :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed  the 90th Interpol General Assembly in Delhi. The General Assembly, Interpol’s supreme governing body, meets once a year to make key operational decisions. After a 25-year hiatus, the meeting was held in India. Interpol’s 90th Annual General Assembly was held from October 18 to 21 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Delegations from 195 INTERPOL member countries, including Ministers, Police Chiefs of countries, Heads of National Central Bureaus, and Senior Police Officers, attended the Interpol meeting in Delhi.
