22nd World Blockchain Summit Held In Dubai:-

The World Blockchain Summit held its 22nd global edition from October 17 to 19 in Dubai’s Atlantis. The World Blockchain Summit is an attempt to bring together experts, including government and investor representatives, to start a conversation and action on blockchain. The next Summit will take place in Bangkok on December 8 and 9, 2022. Previously, the Summit was held in Dubai in March 2022 and October 2021. D Gukesh Becomes Youngest To Beat World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen:-

DommarajuGukesh, an Indian Grandmaster, defeated Magnus Carlsen in the ninth round of the preliminary phase of the Aimchess Rapid online chess tournament. The 16-year-old from Chennai defeated the world No.1 in 29 moves to climb to third place in the tournament. Gukesh is the most recent Indian teen to defeat Carlsen, the World Chess Champion since 2013. Arjun Erigaisi, a 19-year-old compatriot, had defeated the world champion the day before. R Praggnanandhaa, a 16-year-old Indian, has already beaten Carlsen twice this year.


Former Infosys President Ravi Kumar Joins Cognizant:-

Former Infosys president Ravi Kumar S, who resigned from the Bengaluru-based IT firm earlier this year, has joined Cognizant Americas as president. Kumar will take over as CEO of Cognizant on January 16, 2023, and will report directly to Brian Humphries, the company’s CEO. As per Infosys’ annual report, Kumar was the third highest-paid executive after CEO Salil Parekh and chief operating officer UB Pravin Rao. Kumar succeeds Dharmendra Kumar (DK) Sinha who retired from Cognizant last year.


Union Cabinet Approves MSP Hike For All Mandated Rabi Crops:-

The Cabinet has approved an increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for all mandated rabi crops for the marketing season 2023-24, according to union minister Anurag Thakur. The MSP for lentil (Masur) has increased the most, by Rs 500 per quintal. The price of rapeseed and mustard has been raised by Rs 400. The MSPis the price at which the government purchases grain from farmers. The government currently sets MSPs for 23 crops grown in both the Kharif and Rabi seasons. Rabi (winter) crop planting begins in October, immediately following the harvest of kharif (summer) crops.


Serbian Scientists Name Beetle After Country’s Tennis Star Novak Djokovic:-

Serbian scientists named a new species of beetle after tennis legend Novak Djokovic because of its speed, strength, flexibility, durability, and ability to survive in harsh environments, according to Serbian media. The insect, which belongs to the Duvalius genus of ground beetles found in Europe, was discovered in an underground pit in western Serbia several years ago. DuvaliusDokovici is its name. Earlier, Djokovic, 35, won the Tel Aviv Open for his third title of the season, following his seventh Wimbledon title in July.


Adani Airports Appoints Arun Bansal As CEO:-

The Adani Group has appointed Arun Bansal as CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, an arm of Adani Enterprises Ltd that oversees the conglomerate’s airport operations. Bansal joins Adani Group from Ericsson, where he was senior vice president and market area head for Europe and Latin America. According to sources, the development firms up the management structure of the conglomerates’s airport operations. B. V. J. K. Sharma will continue to be the chief executive officer at Navi Mumbai International Airport.


Freedom House: India’s Internet Freedom Improves After 4 Years Downturn:-

India’s internet freedom score improved by two points to 51 in the global ranking following efforts to bridge the digital divide in the country, the US government-funded NGO Freedom House said. “Internet freedom in India marginally improved over the last year, following four years of decline, as efforts to bridge the country’s digital divides expanded access to the internet. While the government continues to impose internet shutdowns, they have reduced in their frequency and intensity,” Freedom on The Net 2022 said.

Kaustubh Kulkarni Elevated As JP Morgan India Head:-

JP Morgan, a Wall Street investment bank, has announced a slew of new appointments, including the appointment of a new India head, Kaustubh Kulkarni, to succeed incumbent Madhav Kalyan, who is moving to a larger global role within the company. The bank announced that Kalyan will take over as head of the Asia Pacific payments division on November 1st, succeeding Sridhar Kanthadai, who will take on a new role as co-head of global payment rails and payment VAS. Kalyan, on the other hand, will remain vice-chairman of Asia Pacific.
