Reliance Jio Surpasses BSNL To Become Largest Landline Service Provider In August :-

In August, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio overtook the country’s largest landline service provider for the first time. According to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India  (Trai), Reliance Jio surpassed state-owned telecom operator and previous market leader BSNL‘s 7.13 million landline connections as of August 31. Trai had earlier pointed out the declining number of landline connections in the country as a cause for concern since the same network is also used to deliver fixed-line broadband services.


Geographical Indication Tag Sought For Nihonshu From Japan :-

The Japanese Embassy in New Delhi has applied for a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for nihonshu/Japanese sake, an alcoholic beverage. This is the first time a product from Japan has filed for a tag at the Geographical Indication Registry in India. Nihonshu is an alcoholic beverage. It is regarded as a special and valuable beverage made from fermenting rice. People traditionally drink nihonshu on special occasions, such as festivals, weddings or funerals, but it is also consumed on a daily basis.


Mallikarjun Kharge Elected As The New Congress President :-

Mallikarjun Kharge has been elected as the new Congress president, becoming the party’s first non-Gandhi president in 24 years. Kharge received 7,897 votes, or 84.14% of the total 9,385 votes cast, to Shashi Tharoor’s 1,076 in the first election to the post in 22 years. Kharge, a veteran Congressman from Karnataka, has a long organisational, electoral, and administrative record, and is a Dalit. Following the announcement of the results, outgoing president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Vadra paid a visit to Kharge’s home to express their congratulations.


Deependra Singh Rathore Named As Interim CEO Of Paytm Payments Bank :-

According to sources, Paytm Payments Bank has appointed Deependra Singh Rathore as interim CEO in addition to his role as chief product and technology officer. After receiving regulatory approvals, it will announce the name of the new full-time CEO. Paytm Payments Bank spokesperson said, “We are focused on bringing the best of technology-driven banking to drive financial inclusion. As we continue our journey, we are excited to strengthen our leadership team and have seasoned experts from banking and financial services join us.”


PM Modi Launched Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a new scheme for farmers in which companies must market all subsidised fertilisers under a single brand called ‘Bharat.’ During the two-day PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022, PM Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana, also known as “One Nation One Fertiliser.” In addition, the prime minister launched Indian Edge, an e-magazine on fertilisers. According to the Prime Minister, the magazine will provide information on recent developments, price trends analysis, and farmer success stories, among other things.


LIC Launched New ‘Dhan Varsha’ Plan :-

Dhan Varsha is a new life insurance plan offered by the Life Insurance Corporation of India. Dhan Varsha by LIC is a non-linked, non-participating, individual, savings, single premium life insurance plan that provides both protection and savings. If the life assured unfortunately passes away during the policy term, this plan will give cash support for the family, the LIC website stated. On the date of maturity, it also offers a guaranteed lump payment amount for the remaining assured life.


UIDAI Topped Grievance Redressal Index For Second Consecutive Month :-

In the rankings report published by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) for the month of September 2022, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) ranked first among all Group A Ministries, Departments, and Autonomous Bodies for resolving public grievances. UIDAI has topped the rankings for the second month in a row. UIDAI has been a top performer in resolving public grievances received through CPGRAMS and has made ongoing efforts to improve Aadhaar holders’ experience.


Google Partners With Assam Government To Power Digital-led Learning :-

Google has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Assam to support and accelerate the State’s mission to promote digital growth and development. Google will collaborate with the Assam Government’s Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) under this new initiative to strengthen school digitization efforts with digital learning tools and solutions to aid teaching and learning, while also promoting the fundamentals of online safety and digital citizenship to school children through the programme.


Hardeep Puri Inaugurated Asia’s Largest Compressed Bio Gas Plant :-

Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, inaugurated Asia’s largest Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Lehragaga, Punjab’s Sangrur. Verbio AG, one of Germany’s leading bio-energy companies, commissioned the plant with a foreign direct investment of approximately Rs. 220 crores. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and senior management from Verbio India Private Limited. The CBG plant in Sangrur covers an area of 20 acres.


CASHe Tie-Up With IRCTC To Launch ‘Travel Now Pay Later’ Facility :-

CASHe, India’s AI-powered financial wellness platform, announced a partnership with Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to provide a Travel Now Pay Later (TNPL) payment option on its travel app IRCTC Rail Connect. According to CASHe, the new scheme will allow customers to book rail tickets instantly and pay for them later in three to six-month EMIs. According to CASHe, passengers can easily book their tickets and pay later with the new TNPL payment option.
