Guinness World Records Officially Declares Monday ‘Worst Day Of The Week’ :-

According to Guinness World Records, Monday is the worst day of the week. “We’re officially giving Monday the record of the worst day of the week,” Guinness World Records announced on its official Twitter account. It was known as The Guinness Book of Records from its inception until 1999, has sold over 143 million copies, is distributed in 100 countries, and is published in at least 22 languages. The record book is published annually and includes both human achievements and natural world extremes.


‘Mission Schools Of Excellence’ Launched By PM Modi In Gujarat :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ambitious ‘Mission Schools of Excellence’ project in Gandhinagar to reform education in Gujarat’s government schools. Conceived with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore, the Mission, partially funded by the World Bank, will help strengthen education infrastructure by setting up new classrooms, smart classrooms, computer labs and overall up-gradation of the infrastructure of schools in the state, according to an official statement.


MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, OYO Fined Rs 392 Crore By CCI :-

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined online hotel booking sites MakeMyTrip and Goibibo, as well as IPO-bound budget hotel chain OYO, for a total of over Rs. 392 crore ($47 million) for anti-competitive behaviour in hotel room listings. MakeMyTrip-Goibibo (MMT-Go) has been fined Rs. 223.48 crore ($27 million), while OYO has been fined Rs. 168.88 crore ($20 million). The companies have been under investigation by the competition watchdog since 2019, following a complaint from the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI).


Wildlife Board Approves Durgavati Tiger Reserve As New Tiger Reserve :-

According to officials, the Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board has approved a new Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR) reserve for tigers, one-fourth of which will be submerged due to the linking of the Ken-Betwa rivers. Durgavati Tiger Reserve, which will cover 2,339 square kilometres, will be spread across the districts of Narisinghpur, Damoh, and Sagar. The meeting, presided over by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, approved a proposal to notify 1,414 square kilometres as core area and 925 square kilometres as buffer area in the new tiger reserve.


Centre Appoints Sanjay Malhotra As New Revenue Secretary :-

Sanjay Malhotra, a 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as an officer on special duty (OSD) in the revenue department by the government. According to an official order, he will take over as revenue secretary after incumbent Tarun Bajaj retires on November 30. As the top bureaucrat of the revenue department, Malhotra, an IIT Kanpur alumnus, will be responsible for finalising all tax-related matters related to the upcoming Union Budget for 2023-24.


Mahindra Finance Partnered With India Post Payments Bank To Boost Credit Access :-

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services announced a strategic partnership with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to expand credit availability to a broader customer base. As part of this agreement, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will provide Mahindra & Mahindra with lead referral services for Passenger Vehicles, 3-Wheeler, Tractor, and Commercial Vehicle Loan categories, as well as cash EMI deposit facility to existing Mahindra & Mahindra customers at Post Offices. This scheme would first be implemented as a pilot in IPPB branches in the states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.


National Unity Day : 31 October  :-

Since 2014, October 31 has been observed as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The day is marked with patriotic events to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the man who was instrumental in the unification of India. He is popularly known as “Iron Man of India”. Patel was a lifelong member of the Indian National Congress (INC) who fought the British during India’s independence movement. He was the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister after independence.


Delhi LG VK Saxena Approved Four Zila Sainik Boards :-

According to officials at the LG’s secretariat, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved the establishment of four zila sainik boards or district soldier boards in districts throughout the national capital, a move that will benefit approximately 77,000 ex-servicemen and their families. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 16.69 crore, of which the central government will bear 60% and the Delhi government will bear the remainder. According to them, the proposal to establish four district soldier boards was approved and sent to the Delhi government by the then-LG in 2019.


Tripura CM Inaugurated State’s First Government English Medium College :-

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath have inaugurated the state’s first English medium general degree college in the city, which has a capacity of 100 students. This academic session, which began last month, teaches the five basic subjects of the arts stream, including mandatory Bengali and English. The Tripura government built the general degree college at a cost of more than Rs 1 crore, as committed in the budget this year, by renovating an old Teachers’ Training College.


Uttar Pradesh Bags Top Honours At PMAY-U Awards 2021 :-

According to Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, more than half of the homes sanctioned under the Centre’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) housing scheme have been delivered, with the remainder in various stages of completion. Mr. Puri’s remarks came on the eve of the PMAY-U Awards 2021, which are held each year to recognise the contributions of states, union territories, and urban local governments. Uttar Pradesh took first place in the awards, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in second and third place, respectively.
