Dr. Anupama Bhattacharya is a dedicated animal geneticist with expertise in molecular biology techniques and a passion for leveraging technology to advance animal genetics research. She holds a Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) degree in Animal Genetics and Breeding from the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) from the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University.
Dr. Bhattacharya completed her MVSc with a focus on transcriptome profiling and comparative analysis between cattle breeds in response to heat stress.
During her postgraduate studies, Dr. Bhattacharya achieved an impressive OGPA of 9.45/10, reflecting her dedication and academic excellence.

Dr. Bhattacharya has gained practical experience through her work as an Assistant Veterinarian at Dr. S.B.’s Veterinary Clinic and Diagnostics in Pune, Maharashtra, where she performed diagnosis and treatment on various pet animals, including dogs, cats, and birds. She also executed veterinary medicine duties in both an on-call capacity and within a clinical environment.
As a Veterinary Intern at Nalanda Pet Animal Clinic in Panvel, Maharashtra, Dr. Bhattacharya managed and treated patients under the guidance of the head veterinarian, gaining experience in data recording, client dealing, and patient handling.
Dr. Bhattacharya has authored a popular article titled “DNA – promise of digital information storage,” which was published in the Science Reporter magazine (CSIR) in the May 2023 issue.
She actively participates in extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including securing the third place in the ‘Short Story (English)’ event at the Sargotsavam Interbatch Off Stage Arts Fest and participating in the International Women’s Day programme held by the Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala Chapter. Dr. Bhattacharya was also a member of the Media and Magazine Committee (Student Council, Mumbai Veterinary College) from 2015 to 2019.
