Interviewer: Welcome to the Wise IAS YouTube channel. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Shweta Singh, who achieved Rank 1 in the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) examination. Congratulations, Dr. Shweta, and thank you for joining us.
Dr. Shweta Singh: Thank you so much. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Interviewer: Let’s start with your journey. Can you tell us a bit about your background and what motivated you to pursue a career in civil services?
Dr. Shweta Singh: Certainly. I have always been passionate about serving the community and making a positive impact on society. My background in veterinary science provided me with a strong foundation in understanding public health and welfare, which naturally led me to consider a career in civil services. The HPSC exam was a way for me to channel my skills and interests into a role where I could contribute more broadly to society.
Interviewer: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during your preparation for the HPSC exam?
Dr. Shweta Singh: One of the biggest challenges was adapting to the subjective nature of the exam. Coming from a background where most tests were objective, I had to shift my focus to developing strong analytical and writing skills. Understanding the exam pattern and aligning my preparation accordingly was crucial.
Interviewer: How did Wise IAS Academy support you in your preparation?
Dr. Shweta Singh: Wise IAS Academy played a pivotal role in my success. Their structured curriculum and comprehensive resources were incredibly helpful. The academy offered free initiatives, including video lectures and guidance sessions, which provided clarity on how to approach the exam. The mentorship and continuous support from the faculty were invaluable in helping me stay focused and motivated.
Interviewer: Can you share some of the strategies that worked well for you in preparing for the exam?
Dr. Shweta Singh: Certainly. One key strategy was to integrate UPSC previous year questions into my study routine. This helped me understand the type of questions that could be asked and how to approach them. Additionally, I made sure to stay updated with current affairs, as they are an integral part of the exam. Regular revision and taking mock tests were also crucial in building my confidence and improving my time management skills.
Interviewer: How did you balance your preparation with other commitments, such as your role as a Veterinary Officer?
Dr. Shweta Singh: Balancing preparation with work commitments was challenging, but it taught me the importance of time management. I dedicated specific hours each day to study and made use of online resources from Wise IAS Academy, which allowed me to learn at my own pace. The flexibility of online learning was a significant advantage.
Interviewer: What advice would you give to other aspirants preparing for competitive exams like the HPSC?
Dr. Shweta Singh: My advice would be to stay consistent and focused. It’s important to have a clear study plan and stick to it. Utilize the resources available to you, whether it’s coaching, online materials, or peer discussions. Don’t hesitate to seek help when needed, and most importantly, believe in yourself and your abilities.
Interviewer: Thank you, Dr. Shweta, for sharing your insights and experiences with us. Your journey is truly inspiring, and we wish you continued success in your career.
