World Statistics Day :20 October:-

Every year on October 20th, the world celebrates World Statistics Day to highlight the accomplishments of the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics. The day, established by the United Nations Statistical Commission, was first observed in 2010. Since 2010, it has evolved into a collaborative effort, with 103  taking participation. This includes 51 African countries that celebrate African Statistics Day every year on November 18th. On the 29th of June, India observes National Statistics Day.

Pune Based Seva Vikas Cooperative Bank Licence Revoked By RBI:-

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revoked the licence of Pune-based Seva Vikas Co-operative Bank due to a lack of adequate capital and earning prospects. According to the bank’s data, approximately 99 percent of depositors are entitled to receive the full amount of their deposits from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).As on September 14, 2022, DICGC has already paid Rs 152.36 crore of the total insured deposits.


FIFA & AIFF Launch Football For Schools:-

Fifa, the world football governing body, has partnered with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to launch the Football for Schools project, which aims to spread the sport across the country. Football for Schools is an ambitious programme run by Fifa in collaboration with UNESCO that aims to help 700 million children with their education, development, and empowerment. By incorporating football activities into the education system, the programme aims to make football more accessible to both boys and girls around the world.


Ashok Leyland, IIT Madras Tie Up To Develop Hybrid EVS:-

Ashok Leyland and IIT Madras researchers have collaborated to develop electric vehicles (EVs) using turbine technology. In these electric vehicles, turbine technology will replace large batteries as the primary powertrain to generate onboard power. The main powertrain in this new category of EVs will be electric motors, but their power source will be significantly different from other types of EVs available today. The Micro Gas Turbine, developed jointly by NCCRD and Aerostrovilos Energy, an IITM startup, will provide onboard power.


HM Amit Shah Unveils 14 Feet High Statue Of Lok Nayak JayprakashNarayan:-

A 14-foot-high statue of socialist icon Jayaprakash Narayan has been unveiled in his ancestral village of SitabDiara in Bihar’s Saran district by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shah travelled to SitabDiara via Varanasi to attend Narayan, also known as JP’s120th birthday celebrations. The statue was unveiled by Shah on the grounds of JP’s ancestral home in Lala Ka Tola. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Nityanand Rai, and other leaders were present on the occasion.


Padma Shri Dr TemsulaAo Passes Away:-

Padma Shri Dr TemsulaAo, a well-known Naga writer and academic, died recently in a hospital in Dimapur. Ao had also held a number of important positions, including chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women. Ao was a famous literary figure in the northeast and the recipient of the Nagaland Governor’s Award for Distinction in Literature, Meghalaya Governor’s Award for Distinction in Literature, Meghalaya Governor’s Gold Medal, the Sahitya Akademi award, apart from the prestigious Padma Shri award.


Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Launches ‘Football For All’:-

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched the ‘Football for All’ campaign to promote sports in the State on the eve of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022. Over 43,000 footballs will be distributed to approximately 2,000 schools throughout the state. This is FIFA’s first programme in India aimed at promoting football among schoolchildren. Joining the programme on a virtual platform, the CM stated that football is the most popular sport that brings people from all over the world together. He stated, “We are very focused on football development, particularly women’s football.”


Indian-American Tulsi Gabbard Exits Democratic Party:-

Tulsi Gabbard, Former Congresswoman and the first Hindu American to run for President in 2020, has announced her resignation from the ruling Democratic Party. Gabbard, 41, who retired from the House of Representatives last year, made the announcement on Twitter.Gabbard was the first-ever Hindu to be elected to the US House of Representatives in 2013 from Hawaii, and she was subsequently elected for four consecutive terms.She has also blamed Russia’s military invasion on Ukraine on Biden’s failed foreign policy.


IMF Slashed India’s GDP Growth At 6.8% From 7.4% In Current Financial Year:-

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reduced India’s GDP growth forecast for 2022-23 from 7.4% to 6.8%, citing the impact of a slowing global economy, stubborn inflation, rising interest rates, and the war in Ukraine. The IMF has joined the World Bank in forecasting growth of less than 7%. Several other agencies, economists, and investment banks have also reduced their forecasts for India’s growth in the current fiscal year. The RBI has also reduced its GDP growth forecast to 7% from 7.2%.


IDBI Bank Partnered With Vayana Network To Boost Supply Chain Finance:-

IDBI Bank has announced the signing of an agreement with Vayana Network as its first fintech partner for end-to-end digitalization services. This collaboration, according to the bank, aims to contribute to the growth of supply chain finance penetration in India, which is less than 1% of gross domestic product (GDP) and accounts for only 5% of outstanding banking assets. This platform is expected to reduce paperwork and transaction processing time while maintaining a consistent customer experience.
